Anuschka Handbags

Anuschka bags are a feast for the eyes. The colors provide for a very powerful design element in style. The wide range of abstracts and natural scenes depicted in muted colors of all shades and hues transforms each handbag into an object of timeless art.
The commercial production of the artwork translates to one article at a time, as the personalized and individual workmanship is an integral part of each creation. The artisans take pride in the creation of every piece and view them as unique works of art, like no other.
The rich and supple cowhide is specificaly created and carefully selected, allowing for the art to age like fine wine while getting enriched and attracting even more compliments.
By approaching fashion through intelligent creativity and striking the right balance between functionality and art, the painting on each handbag and accessory is qualified "wearable art"!
The Anuschka story doesn't end with its art or its leather, but simply begins with it. To bring sense to sophistication, Anuschka pays attention to the intricate details such as practical features, precise handcrafted workmanship, signature lining, custom made hardware and branded sliders.
Whether you are out shopping for groceries on your way back from work or flying overseas to close a business deal, your ability to adapt and react to change is constantly tested. In today's fast changing world of fashion, your Anuschka handbag will reflect your state of mind and support you as you cope with the unexpected!
Back in the early 1980's when Swapan Baus chanced upon the opportunity to make hand painted accessories; he was quick to seek help from his best friend and life partner, Roma. In 1988, Roma started designing hand painted bags while developing the process and refining the method of painting over the years. Today it is a closely guarded tradition.
During the early days, Roma had to overcome the hurdle of finding capable artists to paint her designs on the handbags. A professional artist would never agree to spending hours in a factory painting the same design over and over again. Therefore, when faced with the challenge of recruiting capable artists to hand paint handbags individually and in large quantities to meet market supply and demand figures, Roma set out to hire unemployed and poverty-stricken young men and women with a basic sense of art and an eagerness to learn. They would be taught leather painting skills that would help provide for and honest living for themselves and their families along with a solid career track at the company. Today, Roma's success is proven by these very same dedicated painters that are still working with the company and giving back to their communities by recruiting others who are facing the same income challenges in their lives and training them in this new profession as a chance for a better future.
Roma's son, Bhaskar, grew up watching his parents working hard to build their business. He spent many summers working with them, watching his mother design and train artists, along with observing his father select the leathers and coordinating the process flow.
When it was time for Bhaskar to pursue his college education, he chose to look outside of India in order to get a more global perspective on how businesses were run outside of Asia. He received a degree in Business Administration from Boston University's School of Management. During his very first year in school, he was asked to write about his career goals in one of his management classes and so he modeled his response based on the decision his father once took earlier in his career to quit his job and get into business. His father's approach toward working for himself and building a successful and fulfilling business left a lasting impression on Bhaskar. Bhaskar dreamed of taking the business started by his parents to greater heights after completing university, and growing it on a global scale across all borders and continents outside of India.
In 2000, with Swapan's assistance, Bhaskar gathered enough funds to start Basu Corporation. Basu Corporation sold its firs Anuschka handbag in September of that year. Soon Bhaskar started researching the market and learning more about European and American fashion trends. Initially, Anuschka defied mainstream fashion norms and it became clear that the company would have to tap deeper into its creative acumen and provide for a wider array of art designs. Bhaskar inspired his mother to be bold with her designing and also started contributing his own art concepts.
Gradually, Anuschka started to grow and Bhaskar's involvement in designing grew deeper. Today, Roma and Bhaskar work as a team and have succeeded in bringing original designs, capturing the fashion of the season as well as the lifestyle of the people.
If your hand painted Anuschka bag requires cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe over the painted areas.
Do not use any chemicals or cleaning solutions! Today, Roma and Bhaskar have over 30 artists working under their guidance and their designs are available in USA, Canada, Bahamas, Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands and Belgium.
Anuschka leather accessories are designed with a blend of "fine grain" cowhide and expert craftsmanship. Each leather piece is individually selected by experts and hand cut by our professional. The natural growth marks and wrinkles reveal the true essence of high quality leather in all Anuschka accessories.
Our experts then craft each accessory meticulously, ensuring formation of the desired shape and design. Next, our team goes beyond standard industry quality check limits by conducting repeated production checks throughout all stages of fabrication.
The pieces are then given to our artists for hand painting. They create exclusive pierces of wearable art that are first sketched out on each piece before being painted over with careful precision. It is the visions and dreams of our artists that get shared with the world through our leather accessories.
The quality check is once more conducted after each bag has been individually hand painted. At this point, Roma, Swapan, and Bhaskar personally perform inspections to ensure that the company's high quality standards have been met with precision.
The wearable are pieces are now handed over to the packaging department, where they are carefully prepared for a long overseas journey to our customers. Actually, this happens after Swapan and Bhaskar personally sign each accessory with the trademark Anuschka designer label!
